The Double Monk-strap is again a hit. I remember buying my first pair about 22 years ago. Just loved my black double monks. Not many people wore them those days, and I wore them with proud and distinction because of the fact that I was practically the only one with shoes like this in Antwerp ! (I bought them in Brussels somewhere, but can't remember where though) |

However, faith decided differently, and a fierce car-crash finished their well-polished lives as the rescue-workers (thank God for the, because the fuel tank thought I needed a baptism !) cut them, yes, CUT them from my feet, who were caught between the pedals when the car was upside down, rooftop-wise stroking a strong oak tree !Never had another pair since then. ... I know, my mistake. But they are a true must-have. On top of my wish list ! |
| Double monks. I prefer, even love, the darker ones |
Can't give credits to the picture however (photographer, date, location,... since it has been reposted som many times. just couldn't find it..)I prefer the last and colour of the darker ones. What ? I adore the colour of the darker ones ! Me like ! Me must have ! |
Mr Lino Ieluzzi, elegant as ever, sporting his famous dark-nosed double monks, one strap left open for easy of wear.He started a trend in Japan with this example of personal Sprezzatura.

The pair above is from Paul Stuart, and costs about $425. And look at the elegant last.
